Keira Knightley slams Kate Middleton for doing this after birth of Princess Charlotte.
Kate Middleton is the wife of Prince William and a mother-of-three to Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince Louis, who was born in April.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s appearance outside the Lindo Wing has been criticised by actress Keira Knightley.
The actress has suggested that the royal’s polished appearance just hours after the birth of her second child promotes an unrealistic image of childbirth.
The actress wrote about the royal in the essay for Feminists Don’t Wear Pink and Other Lies.
Keira said: “She was out of hospital seven hours later with her face made up and high heels on.
“The face the world wants to see…Don’t show. Don’t tell.
“Stand there with your girl and be shot by a pack of male photographers.”
The actress from Teddington, who has daughter Edie with husband James Righton, compared the image of Kate post birth to her own experience.
She described giving birth to her daughter in honest and graphic detail.
She said: “My vagina split. You came out with your eyes open. Arms up in the air. Screaming.
“I remember the s***, the vomit, the blood, the stitches.”
The book has been curated by Scarlett Curtis and also includes an essay from actress Gemma Arterton.
However, not everyone agrees with Keira’s take, including some Twitter users.
One wrote: “Some women prefer to keep their s*** to themselves. The ideal of feminism is that we women are independent, autonomous beings who cannot be controlled by any other person or group.
“Including other women. Quit shaming cause she’s different from you.”
