Michigan: 123 missing children found during sex trafficking operation.
The 24-hour sweep, which took place on September 26, was the first of its kind in the United States.
Authorities visited last known addresses, friend’s homes and schools in the hope of finding the children in a safe place. The operation covered the Wayne County area, which includes Detroit.
According to the US Marshals Service, 123 children were identified and recovered out of the 301 children officials were searching for.
Authorities found three cases that were related to sex trafficking, and one homeless teenager who hadn’t eaten anything in three days.
“The message to the missing children and their families that we wish to convey is that we will never stop looking for you,” the US Marshals Service said in its report.
