A motorist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a vehicle collided with a snowplow near the beginning of morning rush-hour in Halifax on Friday.
Halifax Regional Police said in a news release that they responded to the crash in the 1000 block of Larry Uteck Boulevard at 6:43 a.m. after a vehicle “appears to have struck a snowplow head on causing extensive damages.”
The gender and age of the driver have not yet been released by police.
The plow, on the road just as the first snowstorm of the season was getting underway, was travelling outbound on Larry Uteck Boulevard towards Kearney Lake Road.
The plow’s driver was not injured and traffic was being rerouted around the crash scene as the police force’s accident reconstruction team did its work. The release said the team is expected to be on the scene for most of the morning.
Police said motorists won’t have access to Larry Uteck Boulevard between Amesbury Gate and the 102 Highway overpass but that cars travelling inbound along Larry Uteck from the Hammonds Plains Road direction will be able to veer onto Kearney Lake Road inbound.
