A private elementary school in Delta is closed today, following the stabbing of an off-duty police officer and a woman yesterday.
The suspect was quickly arrested, after the pair was stabbed outside Immaculate Conception elementary school on 119 St. in broad daylight.
The officer witnessed some sort of altercation between the man and woman. That’s when police say officer stepped in and he and the woman were stabbed.
The woman and officer have serious injuries.
Classes at Immaculate Conception are cancelled today. The principal tells NEWS 1130 counselling will be available for students tomorrow.
The whole thing happened outside Immaculate Conception elementary school just as school day was ending at around 3 p.m.
No children are believed to have been hurt.
It’s unclear whether the two people involved in the initial altercation know each other.
