It doesn’t matter how cultured you are. You could be fresh off of breathing sharply out of your nose at a New Yorker cartoon. There’s something intrinsically funny about an animal who is bigger than you expect that animal to be. The latest big boi to cause a stir is a buff monkey from Finland.
The white-faced saki was spotted at the Korkeasaari Zoo in Helsinki and snapped by photographer Santeri Oksanen. He said that he was in awe of the monkey’s swoleness. This particularly large primate was far from home, living in a zoo in Finland in spite of being native to South America. Sakis can be found in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela.
“I couldn’t believe the huge muscles that the monkey had,” Oksanen told the UK’s SWNS. “The other monkeys were very small in comparison, they all looked a bit scared of her.”
“The pictures make it look like it’s competing in a bodybuilding contest,” he said.
The muscular monkey pretty quickly found itself added to the canon of the internet’s favorite oversized animals, including this giant cow and a similarly buff kangaroo.
