In a new interview with People, the country music legend opens up about her new love, a retired oil geologist named Anthony “Skeeter” Lasuzzo.
In 2015, McEntire went through a painful divorce from her husband of over 25 years, Narvel Blackstock, but she has since healed right up.
Finding love again, though, wasn’t something she expected.
“I was not looking,” she says. “Not even interested.”
McEntire and Lasuzzo were introduced by a mutual friend in August 2017 while on vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
“We just had the best time,” McEntire says. “And so two nights later, we all went out to dinner, and he bought my dinner.”
Two months later, McEntire went back to Wyoming and the two went out again.
“I was there almost a week and we spent every day together,” she recalls.
In the time since, things have gone amazingly well between them.
“We’re totally in love — absolutely,” McEntire says. “I wouldn’t put up with somebody for two years if I wasn’t in love with ’em!”
As for how they like to spend their time these days, McEntire says, “We do a lot of walking. He lives right there on the lake [Texoma], got a beautiful home. And then when we go to Jackson Hole, we snowshoe and walk and get into nature.”
