A Kelowna man is recovering from the injuries he sustained when he was forced to jump from a moving vehicle after an attempt to recover his stolen car.

On April 6, 2019 at 11:03 a.m., Kelowna RCMP received a report of an injury at a motor vehicle incident near the intersection of Glenmore Road and John Hindle Drive. Police were told that an adult male had been ejected from the box of a pickup truck last seen headed northbound towards Lake Country.

Police have learned that the injured male had located his stolen grey 2005 Chevrolet Silverado outside an apartment complex located in the 1400-block of Glenmore Road North.

He reportedly climbed into the box of his truck after the suspects, an unknown male and female, refused to turn over his vehicle that had been stolen on April 4th.

“Those suspects allegedly fled the area with the registered owner exposed in the truck box,” states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey of the Kelowna RCMP. “The victim sustained injuries when he jumped from his moving truck as it slowed in the intersection.”

Numerous front line officers of both the Kelowna RCMP and Lake Country RCMP scoured the area for the stolen pickup truck, which remains outstanding.

If you witnessed this incident and have not yet spoken to police or you have any information, you are asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
