An all-women skydiving team took to the skies over Seneca Falls on Saturday to mark the centennial anniversary of women gaining the right to vote.

Skydivers from the Highlight Pro Skydiving Team jumped from 5,000 feet above with colored smoke, streamers, and flags displaying women’s suffrage messages.

The skydivers landed across the river from the Women’s Rights National Historical Park, which is where the first-ever women’s rights convention was held this week in 1848.

“To use our passion for skydiving, to be able to spread positive messages to hopefully big, big crowds, and getting important messages across to people. And then, we get to jump into a place like Seneca Falls. A 172nd anniversary of where the women’s movement began, so a complete honor,” said Highlight Pro Skydiving team member Kaz Sheekey.

Women gained the right to vote in 1920 with the ratification of the 19th Amendment. That’s some 72 years after the convention in Seneca Falls.
