Victoria has recorded 14 new cases and eight more deaths. The 14-day average is 25.1 for Melbourne and 0.8 for regional Victoria. Premier Daniel Andrews has confirmed more lockdown restrictions will be eased this weekend, beyond those he previously flagged, after declaring the state is winning the battle against coronavirus. Mr Andrews has appeared at the inquiry into hotel quarantine this afternoon.
Queensland has announced no new cases of coronavirus overnight, and with only five active cases in the state announced further easing of restrictions.
NSW has recorded four new cases as talks continue about easing border restrictions with Queensland. Residents can now travel to South Australia without needing to self-quarantine after those border restrictions were scrapped on Thursday. Meanwhile, two leading epidemiologists say it is time to allow residents of regional Victoria to travel interstate.
The tally of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has passed 32.1 million, according to Johns Hopkins University data. The global death toll has exceeded 981,000.
