Theatres, concert halls and festivals across the state are pressing NSW Health to let them play to full-house audiences, instead of the 50 per cent capacity limit enforced in line with COVID-19 safety measures.
Belvoir St Theatre confirmed it had asked to open to a full house by December. Sydney Theatre Company is aiming for 100 per cent capacity – or, failing that, 75 percent capacity – in time for the first performances of The Picture of Dorian Gray at the Roslyn Packer Theatre at the end of this month a spokesperson said, adding, “Safety measures and enhanced hygiene procedures would be maintained”.
Carriageworks applied on Wednesday to lift capacity restrictions for Sydney Dance Company’s New Breed, an annual celebration of the best emerging Australian choreography as well as student dance performances.
