Ruth Langsford teared up on Tuesday’s Loose Women while listening to West End singer Ruthie Henshall’s heartbreaking story.

Last month, the TV favourite broke down in tears as she discussed not being able to hug her 88-year-old mum Joan as she lives in a care home, which only allows window visits in lockdown.

And today, I’m A Celebrity star Ruthie also revealed her mother is in a care home and heartbreakingly told of how she is deteriorating from lack of human contact.

“I am watching my mother die through a window,” Ruthie said as Ruth looked visibly gutted for her.

Asked when she last saw her mum, Ruthie said: “It was before I went into the castle, so back in October.

“Then they brought in the rule of not being able to have more than one person go and see her behind a screen and that had to be the same person each time.

“Because I was going away into the castle and my other sister works as a teaching assistant, it fell to my other sister to be the one who went in, I haven’t been able to see her.

“They’ve moved her into a front room and I’ve been able to stand at the window and wave.

“But I’m shocked, just absolutely shocked and devastated by the shell of a woman that I see.”

Ruthie further explained that requested to volunteer at the care home, but this was denied.

She said: “When Helen Whately recently announced the volunteer scheme, they were asking for volunteers to go into care homes to do a ‘check in and chat’ with these people in care homes, they would receive the vaccine and they could go in.
