Rebel Wilson is being sued for 2 million Australian dollars for a twitter rant gone terribly wrong! She is being sued for defamation lawsuit.
Elizabeth Wilson, who works for Bauer Media’s House and Garden Magazine, is suing the actor who allegedly tweeted a headshot of the journalist and described her as “total scum” and a disgrace over attempts to contact the actor’s grandmother.
But Rebel had the wrong Wilson – there are two journalists with the name Elizabeth Wilson who work for Bauer magazines.
Rebel took to Twitter in February 2016, claiming Wilson had harassed her grandmother.
When she realised her error she took the offending tweets down.
Today Justice Lucy McCallum asked the parties if there was any chance a mediation could work.
“Do you think a mediation would be fruitful, or could be fruitful?” asked Justice McCallum.
“I doubt it,” the lawyers for Elizabeth Wilson said.
A hearing date has been set down for August 14.
Rebel is in the middle of a separate defamation trial in Melbourne where she is suing Bauer Media for a series of articles in Woman’s Day she says damaged her career.
Rebel is arguing the articles published in May 2015 made her out to look like a serial liar about her age, name and past.
The trial in the Victorian Supreme Court continues.
