Married couple discover they were pictured in same photo 11 years before they met.

A married couple in China recently found out they had crossed paths nearly 11 years ago when they both visited May Fourth square as teenagers in July 2000.

They made the astonishing discovery when the husband, Ye, spotted himself unknowingly photobombing his wife’s photograph taken in the eastern beachside city of Qingdao.

“I heard her mention before that she had been to Qingdao, while I also went to Qingdao and took pictures at the May Fourth Square. We didn’t know it yet,” Ye said.

Ye and his wife, Xue, first met in 2011 in Chengdu. For 11 years, they had no clue they were together in the same place at the same time. Just recently, they discovered the old photograph stashed away in a family album.

“When I saw the photo, I was taken by surprised and I got goosebumps all over my body … that was my pose for taking photos. I also took a photo, it was the same posture (as captured in Ms Xue’s photo), just from a different angle,” Ye said.

The amazed couple was standing several meters apart by mere chance, posing for their separate cameras, with no clue they would be happily married to each other a decade later.

Xue took the trip to the city in Shandong province with her mother, who was recovering from surgery. Ye, too, was supposed to visit the city with his mother, however, she could not make it due to her appendicitis.

Ye and Xue went to their separate ways and spent 11 years not knowing the other person existed, until they met, fell in love and had two children together.

The couple’s friends believe that the coincidence is actually a proof that the two were meant to be together. They plan on visiting the unforgettable city of Qingdao again, this time, with their twin daughters.
