Weather forecast warns of MORE snow to come amid travel CHAOS on Easter Monday.

Snow and torrential rain will blight much of the UK on Easter Monday, and wet weather is set to continue throughout the week.

There are 18 flood warnings in place throughout England, with the South West at particular risk. Severe delays on transport are expected.

The Weather Channel said that together with planned engineering work and millions heading home after an Easter break, issues on the road and railways are expected on Monday as prolonged April showers arrive.

There are yellow warnings for heavy rain in much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and up to 70mm expected to fall in some parts of the country.

Snow is also forecast in northern England and Scotland, with sub-zero temperatures – as low as -7C in some areas north of the border – also thought to be on the way.

The Met Office said there is a chance of delays on the roads. Some are concerned rural communities, notably in the northern Pennines and Scottish Borders, could be cut-off as snow turns to rain.

Forecaster Marco Petagna said: “With this rainfall we are certainly looking at some localised flooding in south west England, Wales and Northern Ireland anywhere in the warning area.

“In terms of snow there could be travel problems on some Pennine routes and higher ground.”
