Elon Musk’s Boring Company will sell Lego-like bricks that can be used to construct affordable houses in just a few days.
“The Boring Company will be using dirt from tunnel digging to create bricks for low-cost housing,” he tweeted.
A spokesperson for The Boring Company, Musk’s latest project to create a subterranean transport system in Los Angeles, confirmed the plans to Bloomberg, saying “excavated muck” from the tunnels would be used to create “an insane amount of bricks”.

“This is not a new concept, as buildings have been constructed from earth for thousands of years including, according to recent evidence, the pyramids,” the company said on its website. “These bricks can potentially be used as a portion of the tunnel lining itself, which is typically built from concrete.”
The company’s Q&A page went on to say this concept is a “useful” solution to the typical, yet “costly, time-consuming and environmentally hazardous”, process of shipping excavated dirt to disposal locations.
When asked for further details about the bricks, Musk tweeted that they will be “interlocking with a precise surface finish, so two people could build the outer walls of a small house in a day or so”.

This isn’t the first time Musk has signalled future plans on the social media network, The Boring Company itself was born from his frustration about Los Angeles’ traffic.
