This was the moment Big Ben’s iconic bongs returned, to ring across the festive period.
The bell’s 9am strike signals the start of the festive period, and the bongs will be reinstated until the 1pm strike on New Year’s Day.
Big Ben’s chimes were silenced in August because of repairs being made to the Elizabeth Tower, but the work won’t take place over Christmas, so the bells can be restored.
