A 14-floor building toppled over and leaned on another tall building in Azarita district of Alexandria.
All of the building’s residents, as well as those of the surrounding buildings, were evacuated without injury.
The governor of Alexandria has formed a committee of civil engineers and armed forces in order to determine the best way to safely remove the building.
Security forces have blocked off the affected area and the overground tram has been halted.
Local resident Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed said he thought the removal of a three-storey building next door affected the building’s foundations, resulting in it beginning to lean.
