Photographer Accuses Bill Murray Of Assault A photographer claims actor Bill Murray attacked him at a restaurant in Martha’s Vineyard.
The incident allegedly took place at Lola’s in Oak Bluffs on Wednesday, where Peter Simon, 71, brother of singer Carly Simon, was taking pictures for The Martha’s Vineyard Times.
Simon told The Boston Globe that he stepped into an alcove to check the shots he’d taken and that’s when the “Groundhog Day” actor approached him, slammed him up against a door, and threatened to throw him out of the restaurant.
“He looked like he was ready to strangle me,” Simon told The Boston Globe.
Later in the evening, as Simon sat a table, Murray came over and apparently poured a glass of water over him and his camera.
According to Simon, he was on assignment to take photos of a band who were playing at the venue that night and who had invited him along. He claimed that he had no idea that Murray was going to be there.
The photographer said he didn’t recognize the man at first, but as the pair separated he realized it was the 67-year-old actor known for movies such as “Ghostbusters”, “Lost In Translation” and “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou”.
In the police report, obtained by the Globe, Murray told officers that Simon was “taking pictures of him” and “harassing” him throughout the night. The report states that Murray was “visibly upset.”
As of this moment, nobody has pressed charges.
