A new TV spot for Disney’s upcoming live-action Aladdin, aired during the 2019 Grammy Awards, has showcased a short, first glimpse at a very blue Will Smith as Genie.
A bald but standard-appearance Smith was first seen in costume on the cover of Entertainment Weekly back in December, though the actor later clarified that the photos represented Genie in his “human/disguise” form and that his character “will be CGI most of the movie.”
Based on the 1992 animated classic, this new live-action version of Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) and features Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine alongside Smith as Genie.
Aladdin hits cinemas in Australia on May 23 and in North America and the UK on May 24.
