Ford Motor Co. is preparing to cut about 1,000 salaried jobs in North America, according to Bloomberg.
This is part of an $11 billion global restructuring that began two years ago as the company projects an operating loss this year.
The job cuts are aimed at improving the automaker’s efficiency and reportedly not related to rising costs from the coronavirus pandemic, Bloomberg reports.
An announcement could come as early as this week.
Last year, Ford closed plants and eliminated thousands of jobs in Europe, where it has been losing money.
In a statement, Ford said, “We are always looking at ways to make our business more effective. We haven’t made such an announcement.”
