Sometimes, a single act of kindness is all you need to do to make a difference in someone’s life. Tennessee football defensive back Garrett Johnson did just that on Wednesday night.

In a video posted to Twitter on Wednesday night, Johnson gives two pairs of shoes to a homeless man sitting on a bench on the Strip near the University of Tennessee campus.

“I walked to the strip to get food and a homeless man, Lala, couldn’t walk because his feet were hurting from the torn shoes he had one,” tweeted Johnson. “I told him I would come back and 15 minutes later I did. Don’t know these people but I do care.”

In the video, Johnson walks up to the man and hands him a pair of blue New Balances. The man gingerly takes his old shoes off and slips his feet into the new shoes. Johnson leaves another pair of shoes on the man’s bag.

“Can you wiggle your toes?” asks a woman, who says she is Lala’s sister, off camera. “Do they feel good?”

She goes on to thank Johnson, before the video ends.

The video has been retweeted more than 1,500 times and has more that 5,600 likes.

Johnson is a junior defensive back from Germantown, Tenn.
