Lan Huntley ‘changes name to female version Lian’ inside prison.
Lan Huntley, who is serving life for the murder of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, used the name “Lian” in a note on an newspaper cutting he gave to a friend.
Inmates at the all-male HMP Frankland can also order mascara, eye shadow, lipgloss, foundation, eye pencils and lipstick.
It comes after it emerged the 43-year-old reportedly wanted a sex change so he could serve his life term in a female prison.
A source told the Sun: “Huntley’s been telling everyone to call him Lian.
“It’s getting him loads of attention and he feels like a bit of a celebrity inside – which itself makes him feel a bit safer.
“He’s taking pleasure in signing everything for as many inmates as possible with his new name.
“The canteen sells eye shadow and foundation so, if he wants to look more like a woman, he can.
Last month it was reported Huntley wanted a sex change because he believed he would have a “cushier life” in a female prison.
But a Prison Service spokesman last night denied claims Huntley was planning to switch gender.
The former caretaker was sentenced to two life terms in 2003 after the 2002 murders of Holly and Jessica in Soham, Cambridgeshire.
After his move from HMP Wakefield to Franklin in 2008, Huntley has reportedly struck up a friendship with Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe over a shared interest in nature programmes.
