Star Wars, The Last Jedi’s new trailer hints at Rey fighting Luke Skywalker.
The hype ahead of the latest entry in the Star Wars franchise, The Last Jedi, has been somewhat muted compared to The Force Awakens and Rogue One in the last couple of years.
That might have something to do with director Rian Johnson urging fans to avoid the last trailer so that they could “come in clean” to The Last Jedi, but then again, you do have to remind everyone every so often that one of the year’s most anticipated releases is only around the corner.
And that’s just what Disney and LucasFilm have done with a new trailer for The Last Jedi, released during Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday night.
Blink and you’ll miss it, but the trailer does feature the usual mix of spectacular visual effects and some standout moments, most notably Luke Skywalker in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and a grim warning from Luke to Rey that “this is not going to go the way you think”.
We’ll see what he means when The Last Jedi is released on December 15.
