Lion mauls zookeeper to death after he forgot to lock enclosure.
The 28-year-old man was cleaning the lion’s cage when he was attacked.
The man, Gustavo Serrano Carabajal was pounced on and bitten, according to reports.
His co-workers found him lying on the ground, drenched in his own blood, at the Nicolas Bravo zoo in Tulancingo, in the Mexican state of Hidalgo.
He was pronounced dead at the scene before emergency services arrived, according to the Irish Mirror.
According to local councillor, Fernandez Perez Romero, he said that the animal would not be put down despite the killing.
Romero had said that the zoo had undergone recent measures to keep employees safe from animals.
His family have not commented on his death or released a statement on the tragic incident.
