A woman from New Zealand has died in London after friends say she fell out of a window while trying to take a selfie.
Toni Kelly, who was originally from New Zealand but had been living in London, suffered a brain injury as a result of the fall, and she subsequently died in hospital from her injuries.
While it’s not entirely clear what the exact circumstances surrounding Toni’s fall were, according to Daily Mail Australia her friends believe she had been trying to take a photograph of herself near the window at the time.
In a sad twist of fate, Toni had written: “Might as well be Peter Pan cause I’m never gonna grow up,” on her Instagram bio.
Toni’s friends have set up a fundraising page on New Zealand crowdfunding website Give A Little to gather together the money required to bring Toni’s body back to her family in New Zealand. Toni is described on the page as “a young, happy and beautiful girl who has had a tragic accident while living overseas in London.”
So far, over $38,000 (or £19,000) has been raised in donations following the the young woman’s death.
The page also confirmed that Toni’s organs had been donated “to help save other lives in the UK”.
The New Zealand Herald reports Toni’s sister Stacey posted on Facebook to thank people for their donations. “I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the endless support so far,” the post reportedly said
“We are completely lost for words & can’t wait to be home.”
