The Aaron Rodgers-Danica Patrick era is over.
After breakup rumors began swirling in the last couple of days when social media sleuths noticed Patrick had unfollowed Rodgers on Instagram, E! News is reporting they’re “no longer together,” as confirmed by Patrick’s representative.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback and retired race car driver became a sports power couple when they confirmed in January 2018 that they were dating. They had been spotted together a month earlier at Chives Restaurant in Suamico.
During their more than two years together, the notoriously private Rodgers, 36, offered glimpses into their relationship through interviews and social media posts. Patrick, 38, frequently shared photos of their travels together.
Her last Instagram post of the two of them together was April 11 from a trip to Peru in March. They had narrowly made it out of the country before it shut down its borders to slow the coronavirus outbreak. They were quarantining at the $28 million Malibu mansion Variety reported Rodgers bought in November.
During her newest Pretty Intense podcast on Thursday, Patrick answered questions about herself submitted by fans on Instagram. “Nothing is off limits” she said at the start. Rodgers’ name never came up during the 42 minutes, but the final question of the podcast perhaps offered some insight into recent changes in her life.
When asked what she does to stay calm and collected during life transitions, she answered: “Well, you cry to your friends a lot. That’s important. … Also developing a mindset that life might be about to get better than you could ever expect and get excited. Understand that you’re leaving a situation for a reason, whether it’s a person or a job or a city, whatever it is you’re leaving for a reason, right, and something better is on the way. That’s the point.”
She was also asked about one of the greatest insecurities she’s worked through. “It’s more of a new revelation, but it’s the concept that I’m not enough, especially in relationships. I think that’s a recurring thought,” she said during the podcast.
Patrick had previously been in a relationship with fellow NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for nearly five years, after she divorced in 2013. Rodgers split from actress Olivia Munn in 2017 after three years together.
Rodgers appeared on her Pretty Intense podcast in December for a nearly two-hour conversation in which he praised the “steady energy” and calm she brings to the house. “You’re a peacemaker. Sometimes you fight for it, but you’re a peacemaker,” he said.
During an appearance on “The Rachael Ray Show” in 2018, she rattled off what she liked about him. “He’s funny, he’s very kind, he’s thoughtful, he’s super smart. And he’s really good at football. And he’s tall and he’s big, and I like that.”
