Daniel Day-Lewis’ final screen performance teased in first Phantom Thread trailer.
After winning Best Actor at the 2008 Oscars for There Will Be Blood, Daniel Day-Lewis has re-teamed with director Paul Thomas Anderson for Phantom Thread, scheduled to premiere this Christmas. In the first trailer for the film, set in 1950s London, Day-Lewis plays a womanizing dressmaker named Reynolds Woodcock who finds both love and his muse in a woman named Alma played by Vicky Krieps.
This past June, Day-Lewis announced that he was retiring from acting after this project, with a spokesperson adding, “He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject. ”
