Meghan Markle and Prince Harry double their wedding budget with a £400,000 designer gown and a £120,000 honeymoon.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to double their wedding budget with the bride-to-be ready to spend £400,000 on a designer gown and a £120,000 luxury honeymoon being planned for the newlyweds, as reported by DailyMail. The Royal Wedding is not too far away and they seem to want to spare no expense.
When the couple decided to get engaged, Meghan Markle sent shockwaves on the internet when she wore a £56,000 Ralph and Russo couture dress, but compared to what she has in mind for her wedding, it seems like nothing. A source close to Meghan Markle revealed to Look magazine that an estimated £400k has been spent on her wedding dress.
As reported by Daily Mail, the insider who spoke to the magazine revealed, “Meghan is like any other bride preparing for her dream day. The wedding dress has been the biggest expense, and the budget has now doubled from what it originally was.” It is believed that Meghan has spent over £100,000 on post-wedding celebrations.
The source also spoke about the £120,000 luxury honeymoon which is going to be a wedding present from the actress to Prince Harry. The Kensington Palace has refused to give any comment about the Royal budget.
There has also been a lot of guessing and speculation about who will be designing Meghan Markle’s wedding dress. Just about a month ago, bookmakers suspended bets that Markle will follow Kate Middleton’s footsteps and opt for an Alexander McQueen gown just as she had worn for her wedding.
For Kate Middleton’s big day, the public was unaware of the designer of the dress until the day before the actual day of the Royal Wedding when Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen was seen entering the hotel of the Duchess of Cambridge. It is highly possible that we will have to wait until the final wedding dress to know the designer and the design of Markle’s wedding gown.
Jessica Mulroney, who is a close friend of Meghan Markle, as well as her stylist, is believed to be helping the bride-to-be choose her gown. Earlier the former actress had shared how her ideal wedding dress would be ‘classic and simple’.
In an interview with Glamour, before people knew of her relationship with Prince Harry, she had said, “Classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist. I personally prefer wedding dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic.”
When Meghan Markle’s ‘Suits’ character was getting married, we saw her all dressed in a fluffy Anne Barge wedding dress. When she was asked whether she would choose something similar she revealed to Glamour, “It’s not my personal style because I’m a lot more relaxed than Rachel but I love that I got to play dress up in this gown.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are all set to be wed on the 19th of May at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
