Snake handler found dead with huge pet python by his body WAS strangled to death as cops continue to probe whether reptile was the killer.
Dan Brandon, 31, is said to have suffered ‘serious injuries’ and experts are now trying to ascertain if the snake was involved in his death.
Today authorities confirmed Dan has died of asphyxiation.
The death in Church Crookham, Hampshire, is being treated as non-suspicious but officers confirmed one line of inquiry was that Dan was fatally injured by the snake.
Pythons have killed humans before, but it is believed it would be the first time it has happened in Britain.
Non-venomous pythons kill by wrapping round their pray and squeezing them to death.
It is one of the largest species of snake in the world, and can grow up to 25ft long.
The animal enthusiast, who is believed to have lived with his parents, was found dead last month.
His social media accounts are full of pictures of his pets, including a Burmese python.
Friends of Dan set up a JustGiving page to raise money for the Worldwide Fund for Nature in his honour.
