'Y: The Last Man': Ben Schnetzer To Star As Yorick Brown, Report

Warcraft star Ben Schnetzer has replaced Barry Keoghan as Yorick on FX’s upcoming Y: The Last Man series.

A Y: The Last Man adaptation based on Brian K. Vaughan’s award-winning comic book series has been in the works for years. D.J. Caruso was originally going to direct a Y: The Last Man film with Shia LaBeouf playing Yorick. The Y: The Last Man film project was last handed to Dan Trachtenberg. Now, the DC Vertigo property is being developed as a television series for FX.

FX’s Y: The Last Man series has had some issues trying to get off the ground. First, showrunners Michael Green and Aida Mashaka Croal departed the project and were replaced by Eliza Clark. In addition, Dunkirk and Eternals star Barry Keoghan , who was originally going to play Yorick, recently left the project. A pilot was filmed in July 2018 and principal photography for the series continued in August 2018. Now, production is expected to resume in April and Variety is reporting that Ben Schnetzer will be replacing Barry Keoghan as Yorick. Ben Schnetzer is best known for playing Mark on Pride, but also appeared as Khadgar in Warcraft.

Brian K. Vaughan’s acclaimed comic book seres ran from 2002 to 2008 and was published by DC Comics under their Vertigo label. The series follows Yorick Brown, who survives a plague and becomes the last human on the planet with a Y chromosome. Yorick is also notably joined by his pet monkey Yorick as they search for answers in a dystopian world with no men.

Y: The Last Man will star Ben Schnetzer, Diane Lane, Imogen Poots, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield, Marin Ireland, and Amber Tamblyn.
