Kayla Berg went missing seven years ago without a trace. Two months after she vanished, someone made a spooky video featuring a woman who looks and sounds like her.
A bizarre video on YouTube spurring speculation it showed a missing woman held captive has been removed from the host site. The video showed man introducing his new girlfriend, that appears to be a young woman held captive. A message on YouTube shows the video was removed due to it violating the site’s bullying and harassment policies.
Sunday, a blog was posted on social media site, Imgur attempting to make a connection to the disappearance of Kayla Berg.
Chief Roller said of the tips, they are attempting to contact a person in Marathon County.
“We do have to look at every single one so it is time consuming but you know we’re going to be thorough and make sure that every tip we do get we will follow up on, and either eliminate that person or that subject as the one that’s in the video,” explained Roller.
He said officers were at a home in Marathon County Monday night, but have not yet made contact with the person that lives there. The Antigo Police Department, not the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation.
The video, titled “Hi Walter! I got a new gf today!” shows a man talking to camera about how he met a girl and they went shopping. The minute long clip concludes as the man introduces the woman – yelling and chained in a bathroom.
This video was originally posted in October 2009, but now has more than 940,000 views — most likely due to the suspicion of a Kayla Berg connection.
Kayla Berg’s mother Hope Sprenger told NewsChannel 7 she’s seen the video, and it broke her heart. She watched the video, paused it, watched it again and paused it. She said it looked like Kayla, but she just isn’t sure.
Sprenger said she wants anyone with information to go directly to law enforcement, and no where else.
No one has confirmed if the video is Kayla Berg.
Chief Roller said they investigate any leads and tips about Kayla Berg.
He said they have not yet tracked down the man in the video. If anyone has any information about the video, or the case, you’re asked to call the Antigo Police Department at 715-627-6411.
