Elton John’s mother dies at 90 after reconciling with son.
Elton John has said he is “in shock” following the death of his mother, just months after the pair patched-up their relationship having not spoken to each other for almost nine years.
The award-winning and much-loved musician announced that his mother had passed away on Monday morning describing how he would “miss you so much”.
Posting a picture of the pair on Instagram, Sir Elton wrote: “So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning.
“I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock. Travel safe Mum. Thank-you for everything. I will miss you so much. Love, Elton.”
The 70-year-old singer-songwriter had not spoken to his mother until the rekindled their relationship in May of this year.
John fell out with his mother in 2008 when he allegedly asked her to cut all ties with two of their oldest friends.
However on this year’s Mother’s Day in the United States, Sir Elton posted a picture of him with his mother, taken in July 2002, on Instagram with the caption: “Dear Mum, Happy Mother’s Day! So happy we are back in touch. Love, Elton xo.”
