Man charged with murder after body found in bath, Report

A man has been charged with murder after a body was discovered in a bath of a city home.

The victim, believed to be a man aged in his 20s, was found with multiple serious injuries inside the property in Holly Road, Handsworth.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after officers were called at around 9am on Sunday (Feb 7).

He has yet to be formally identified and a post mortem will be carried out later today to help establish how he died.

David Swaby, from Holly Road, was charged with murder last night (Feb 8).

The 33-year-old is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today.

The latest statement from the force read: “We’ve charged a man with murder following the discovery of a body in the bath of a house in Birmingham on Sunday (7 Feb).

“Officers were called to Holly Road, Handsworth, at around 9am where they found the body of a man with multiple serious injuries.

“The victim – who was pronounced dead at the scene – has not been formally identified but is believed to be a man in his 20s.

“A man was arrested a few miles away later that morning on train tracks near Wigmore Lane in West Bromwich.

“And last night our Homicide Unit charged David Swaby, from Holly Road, with murder.

“The 33-year-old is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates this morning (9 Feb).

“A post mortem examination will also be carried out later today to understand exactly how the man died. “
