Teen charged after woman critically injured in drill attack.
A teenager has been charged after a woman in Northern Ireland was attacked with a cordless drill and left in a critical condition.
In a statement, police said: “A 17-year-old male has been charged with GBH, possession of an offensive weapon and theft of a drill.
“It follows an attack on a woman in Strabane during the early hours of Saturday morning.”
Brenda McLaughlin, 38, is being treated at the Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry, where her condition is said to have stabilised.
Police have been investigating whether there was a possible homophobic motive in the attack, which happened in Railway Street.
The teenager is due to appear before magistrates in Omagh on Monday.
