Tesla is set to unveil an “unexpected” new product on Monday October 17, according to CEO and founder Elon Musk.
Musk has just tweeted that the electric car company is going to conduct an event on October 17th. He didn’t go into details of what the company will be talking about at this event, his tweet merely confirmed the date, however we do have an idea of what it might talk about on October 17th. This event is most likely going to be about the Model 3, Tesla’s first mass-market electric car.
Tesla unveiled the Model 3 earlier this year but the initial unveiling was just one part of the two-part unveil that the company came up with for its first affordable electric car. Tesla has previously promised to hold a “big” follow-up event for the Model 3 so it’s likely that the October 17th event might be about this car.
It’s interesting to note that Musk mentions in his tweet that this October 17th event was “unexpected by most,” this leaves the door open to the possibility that the upcoming event might be about something entirely different from the Model 3.
The company is actually holding two events this month, the second on October 28th, which it has previously confirmed. On October 28th, Tesla will unveil a new residential solar roof with an integrated Powerwall battery, this is the first product that has been announced since the merger of Tesla and SolarCity was confirmed earlier this year.
