Highway 148 was closed until early Monday morning after two people died and four others were seriously injured in a head-on crash in the Quyon sector of the Pontiac.
M.R.C. des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Police said that the man driving the east-bound vehicle and one of his passengers were killed. Both were in their 20s. A third occupant suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Police believe that their eastbound vehicle crossed the centre line and struck a westbound vehicle, in which a mother and her two children suffered injuries that were described as serious but not life-threatening.
Police continue to investigate but said that speed ​​and intoxication are not believed to be factors.
The stretch of Highway 148 reopened at 3:15 a.m. Monday.
