Paddleboarder ‘commutes to work’ dressed in suit across Hudson River.
Have you ever had to rush to a meeting but just didn’t want to deal with that rush hour commute?
This might not be your typical daily commute, but for Scott Holt, this is how he prefers to beat traffic
“I chose the paddleboard that day because the freeness factor was big. I wanted to be on my own schedule,” said Holt.
A New Jersey resident, Holt had an important meeting to get to that morning in Manhattan. Running late, he floated the idea of taking his paddleboard across the Hudson River and hopped on for the 30 minute ride.
Holt, slinging his briefcase over his shoulder, paddled through the choppy river decked out in his suit and tie, delighting unsuspecting ferry passengers along the way as he dealt with a different type of morning traffic.
“Ferries were going every which way, so the wakes were kinda coming at me from behind, from the side, you know all the different directions. It got a little tough. I almost fell in a couple times,” said Holt.
With soggy shoes, Holt arrived to the meeting on time.
“It’s probably not the only time I’ll do it. I mean, you know I showed up dry and it was free. So I could see myself doing it again I don’t wanna rule it out,” said Holt.
