Cameron Diaz has retired from acting, according to her close friend and former co-star, Selma Blair. Her friend appeared to accidentally reveal the news when discussing whether there would ever be a sequel to their movie, The Sweetest Thing.
“I had lunch with Cameron the other day,” she told The Metro. “We were reminiscing about the film. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting. She’s like, ‘I’m done’.”
“I mean she doesn’t need to make any more films. She has a pretty great life, I don’t know what it would take to bring her back. She’s happy.”
The last film that Diaz made was Annie back in 2014. Since then, she has kept herself fairly under the radar and generally avoided red-carpet events, except for the promotion of her second wellness book in 2016.
The actress—who has starred in a number of big blockbusters over career, including The Holiday, There’s Something About Mary, Charlie’s Angels and The Mask—is yet to confirm the rumors, however she does not appear to have any films lined up for the moment.
Diaz previously spoke about her stepping out of the spotlight last year. “I just went, ‘I can’t really say who I am to myself.’ Which is a hard thing to face up to,” she said at the Goop Wellness Summit, according to E! News. “I felt the need to make myself whole.”
