Turmeric Recall Announced, Excessive lead levels found

After its initial recall of ground turmeric at the end of July, Gel Spice Inc. has confirmed that six more brands have been affected..

The original recall was Fresh Finds Ground Turmeric Powder and was sold at Big Lots stores all over the country.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, on Friday, August 5, 2016 the recall was expanded to include the following products:

The products have been sold at various stores around the country.

The FDA said that no illnesses have been reported in connection with the turmeric powder.  Elevated levels of lead in the body can cause health problems like delayed development and learning deficiencies.
