Coronavirus Australia Updates: Gathering limits on track to be lifted for south-east Queensland

All eyes will be on Queensland’s COVID update this morning, with the 10-person limits on gatherings in Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan set to be lifted if the state records no new community cases.

That would mark 14 consecutive days – the mark needed to lift restrictions in homes and outdoor areas in those areas.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Jeanette Young has said the gathering restrictions could also be eased, to groups of up to 30, if the state’s zero community cases continue today.

Hitting the milestone mark today would also trigger the lifting of visitor bans at aged care homes and hospitals.

Queensland Health is expected to release its COVID-19 update at about 9am today.

Preparations are also underway to admit ACT residents to Queensland who will be allowed in from 1am tomorrow.
